Two Opportunities to hear from Author Jan Pinborough

Thursday, September 12 at 4:30 pm Ms. Pinborough will speak at the Anne Carroll Moore Library at USU's Edith Bowen Laboratory School. This will constitute our membership meeting.
Thursday September 12 at 7:00 pm Ms. Pinborough will speak to the public at Logan Libray in the children's area.
All are welcome to attend one or both events. We hope to see you there!

CVLA, Logan Library, and USU's Anne Carroll Moore Library Host Author Jan Pinborogh
CVLA, together with Logan Library and USU's Anne Carroll Moore Library, will host author Jan Pinborough on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Logan Library. Ms. Pinborough will be discussing her children's book, Miss Moore Thought Otherwise, about the life of Anne Carroll Moore and her lasting influence on library service to children. The event will be held in the children's area that evening at 7 pm. Please join us as we celebrate the original children's librarian!

Utah State Library Extends Deadline for UPLIFT Grants
Due to technical and other issues the state library is extending the due date from August 15th to August 30th. UPLIFT Professional Excellence Grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded to several applicants to attend a conference or to help pay tuition toward a library related field degree. USU Library Pays Homage to 50 Years of Moonwalking with Display
Merrill-Cazier Library has a small exhibit to honor the 50 year celebration since Apollo 11 launched. Featuring materials from the Government Information Collection, the exhibit is located in the Library atrium and will be displayed through the month of July.
The exhibit includes historic materials about the first moon landing as well as USU faculty and student work in space research the past 50 years.
“USU continues to contribute to the next leap through its space grant designation,” display organizer and Government Information Librarian Jen Kirk said.
According to Utah Space Grant Consortium, USU is the number two university in the United States when it comes to funding for space research.

We need at least one new board member. If you or someone in your library community wishes to apply, please do so online. It is the Governor that makes the appointment and it's highly prestigious!
Areas of special interest include: someone who works in a library, someone from a rural area, a school librarian, or someone with diversity background or experience.
We meet quarterly and there may be other things you are called on to do. See more about the board here.

Congratulations to Paul Daybell, our 2019 Library Hero!
